COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS
ALGENES (COLD-RESISTANT OLIVE VARIETIES IDENTIFICATION AND NEW TOOLS TO ACCELERATE PLANT BREEDING)
LEADER: INNEA ALTERNATIVAS BIOTECNOLÓGICAS (SPAIN)
PARTNER: MUSAJ OLIVE OIL (ALBANIA)

This project explores and revalorises olive varieties located in Albania that entail a great genetic potential to improve olive growing worldwide.

ALGENES will be carried out by joining the forces of two international SMEs: INNEA located in Spain and leader of the project, and MUSAI Olive Oil located in Albania.

The partners of this project will share synergies to achieve their objectives. Specifically, INNEA is looking for cold resistant olive varieties and new assessment techniques, while MUSAI is looking for high quality olive oil varieties for the production of healthy oils.

ROILT (RESOILENT)
LEADER: AGRICOLUS (ITALY)
PARTNER: BRIOAGRO TECH (SPAIN)

Climate change has increased the frequency and severity of drought, which limits crop production worldwide.
Developing new cultivars with increased drought tolerance and short breeding cycles is critical. However, achieving this goal requires phenotyping a large number of breeding populations in a short time and in an accurate manner.

RESOILENT aims to develop a high throughput phenotyping platform (HTPP) for olive (Olea europaea). The project will focus on the identification of specific plant traits and varieties linked to drought tolerance. In order to identify the most tolerant olive cultivar, BrioAgro soil and leaf sensors will be exploited.

MASOLEA (ADAPTATION OF NEW OLIVE VARIETIES IN SPAIN AND DEEP-TECH MANAGEMENT AND MONITORING)
LEADER: AGROFERVI EXPLOTACIONES AGRÍCOLAS (SPAIN)
PARTNER: ALFANET (ALBANIA)

Several studies have shown that different local varieties in North Africa and the Balkans have a high fat and phenolic content. However, these varieties have not been tested under Spanish climatic conditions.

This project will address untapped worldwide olive varieties with high commercial potential in Spain and develop an intelligent App for the easy evaluation and management of olive farms.

PHE4OLIVE (PHENOTYPING SYSTEM FOR OLIVE TREES)
LEADER: COMMONSLAB ΚΟΙΝΣΕΠ (GREECE)
PARTNER: XPECTRALTEK (GREECE)

The PHE4OLIVE project will develop a system to support the phenotyping of olive trees used in pre-breeding activities. The system will provide optical monitoring of leaf growth dynamics for evaluating the root performance of new varieties of olive tree stems.

OLIVE 4.0 (PREDICTIVE MODEL OF ROOTING AND GROWTH)
LEADER: PLANTAS CONTINENTAL (SPAIN)
PARTNER: EC2CE (SPAIN)

The OLIVE 4.0 project will work on two fundamental aspects of the activity of a nursery. On the one hand, it will delve into the improvement of the rooting of cuttings for the mass reproduction of olive varieties.

The second aspect is the nursery growth capacity of olive plants. The growth potential of each variety will be analysed in order to establish a plant production calendar according to the needs of the clients that allows reducing the number of plants that remain in the nursery due to lack of adequate forecasting.

OLIVE-REC (OLIVE TRAITS RECORDER)
LEADER: AEDIT (ITALY)
PARTNER: TEA GROUP (ITALY)

The project aims to develop and test a digital service for collecting, sharing and elaborating phenotypic data of olive, to be used in pre-breeding activities. Olive-Rec will be composed of an App for data collection and a platform for data elaboration and sharing.
