On September 2021, GEN4OLIVE project launched its 1st Open Call for Proposals with €750.000 of funding available for SMEs in the fields of olive pre-breeding and new breeding technologies. The Call was open until December 1st, 2021.
SMEs could apply for funding up to €50.000 (“Individual Projects”) or up to €100.000 (“Collaborative Projects”). More information regarding this 1st Call for Proposals can be found in the Guide for Applicants.

The 1st Call for Proposals funded olive pre-breeding activities and the development of new technologies that accelerate and make the breeding process more effective.
The proposals had to start from previous research results in order to carry out pre-breeding activities, both by taking advantage of the existing olive genetic resources in and out of the Germplasm Banks, and by applying or adjusting new techniques and technologies to accelerate the process.
SMEs established in one of the following countries: FRANCE, GERMANY, GREECE, ITALY, MOROCCO, SPAIN and TURKEY, who are:
Selected projects will enhance multi-actor collaboration and knowledge transfer between the Germplasm Banks and the SMEs.
with expertise in international collaborative RTDI planning, exploitation and commercialization strategies to evaluate the proposals under the GEN4OLIVE 1st Call for Proposals.
The experts had to be experienced evaluators with, at least, 5 years of expertise in one of the following fields:
· Varietal development processes using pre-breeding technologies or methodologies.
· IT tools, that can support plant pre- breeding activities, based on technologies.
· Technology innovation projects led by SMEs to increase their competitiveness.This call closed on 15th November, 2021.
